For the past two years, Thailand’s cannabis conversation has been dominated by laws, licenses, dispensaries, and flower quality. But beneath all of that; the trends, the hype, and the constant push for “stronger, louder, better”, lies something far more important:
Genetics.
Seeds.
The origin of everything we grow and everything we smoke.
It’s strange how little we talk about them.
While the rest of the world has spent decades collecting, preserving, and evolving cannabis genetics, Thailand is only now beginning to understand the true value hidden inside its own landrace varieties, the varieties that shaped global cannabis culture long before many of today’s modern strains even existed.
This is why I decided to host Seed Fundamentals, a 101 workshop that brings us back to the roots (literally) and reminds us why seeds matter now more than ever.
Why This Workshop Matters
Most people see a seed as a small brown dot. Growers see potential. Breeders see a story. But culturally, a seed is a time capsule.
Every Thai landrace seed carries decades, sometimes centuries, of environmental adaptation, human selection, and cultural history. When we lose a seed, we’re not just losing a plant. We’re losing a part of Thailand’s agricultural identity.
Meanwhile, imported genetics continue to shape the modern market. Cookies, OG, Gelato, Zkittlez, hybrid after hybrid, all of them descendants of long evolutionary paths, crafted and monetized.
If Thais don’t start collecting now, the next generation of cannabis in this country won’t be Thai at all.

What We’ll Learn in the Workshop
Seed Fundamentals is not meant to turn everyone into breeders overnight. It’s meant to do something more important: Give people a foundation. A way to understand where cannabis truly comes from.
We’ll explore:
– How genetics evolve from landrace → imported → modern hybrid
– How lineage charts work (and what they can reveal about traits)
– Understand the influence of mother and father plants
– How proper seed storage protects genetics for decades
– The cultural responsibility of maintaining Thai landrace heritage
***And yes all participants will receive seeds to start their own small collection.
This isn’t a grow class. This is a preservation class.
Another big part of this workshop is community
Thailand’s cannabis industry is still young, still fragile, still shaping its identity. We need rooms where people who care about genetics; farmers, budtenders, growers, and educators, can meet each other, exchange knowledge, and build a future together.
This workshop is one of those rooms.

True cannabis culture isn’t built on hype. It’s built on heritage, knowledge, and respect for the plant.
If Thailand doesn’t preserve its genetics today, someone else will do it tomorrow, and sell it back to us with a price tag.
This workshop is the first step toward rebuilding that foundation.
If you’re part of the Thai cannabis industry or simply someone who cares about the future of our plant, I hope to see you there.
